Lateral Flow (LFD) Testing
Coronavirus (COVID-19): Get a test if you do not have symptoms
Testing in Scotland is changing. From 18 April 2022 lateral flow device (LFD) tests are only available for specific groups of people when they do not have symptoms.
Most people in Scotland no longer need to test when they do not have coronavirus symptoms. Instead, LFD tests are now being used in a targeted way, to protect the most vulnerable.
If you are eligible, LFD tests can be ordered online or by phoning 119.
When you should use an LFD test
The general public no longer need to test when they do not have coronavirus symptoms.
You should order LFD tests if you are:
- a contact of a positive case and are fully vaccinated
- a positive case who is self-isolating and are eligible to end self-isolation early (take an LFD test from day 6 as advised in guidance for ending self-isolation early)
- visiting a hospital or care home
- eligible for coronavirus treatments
- an unpaid carer

If you're eligible, you can phone 119 or order LFD test kits online to be sent to your home. Your order will contain 1 pack with 7 LFD tests.
If you’re ordering for another household as well as your own, you should:

You can no longer collect LFD tests from your local pharmacy or coronavirus test sites.
