Where is the Dialysis Unit?
The Dialysis Unit is in The Balfour, Foreland Road, Kirkwall. There is a dedicated entrance with video door bell directly from the main car park of The Balfour. Patient parking is available opposite the entrance to the unit with a drop off zone outside the door.
What are the Dialysis Unit Opening times?
- 7.30am - 8.30pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday
About the Dialysis Unit
Renal medical cover is provided from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Dr Tani Abedin (ARI Renal Consultant) oversees care of the Orkney Renal patients and visits The Balfour every two months to hold renal clinics. The Aberdeen Renal Unit also provides support and advice to the Orkney Dialysis Unit including specialist vascular access services, transplant nurse team, peritoneal dialysis nurse team and renal dieticians.
Information for patients:
If you feel unwell on the day of your dialysis please contact the unit on the number provided. The dialysis team will assess your needs and give advice ahead of coming into the unit. If it is a non dialysis day, contact your GP, NHS 24 or attend A&E if necessary.
