Our Team Orkney Awards are back
We’ve launched our Team Orkney Awards to recognise and celebrate the vital work, commitment and dedication of health and care staff in our community.
The awards, now in their second year, will once again recognise and thank individuals and teams who consistently go above and beyond to deliver exceptional care to our patients, keep our services running and work hard to improve our services as a whole. They will also recognise those who consistently live our values of open and honest, respect and kindness.

Laura Skaife-Knight, Chief Executive at NHS Orkney, said: “After the success of last year’s Team Orkney Awards, I’m delighted our awards are back for 2025. We’ve listened carefully to feedback from our community and staff and made changes to the categories in response, leading to more categories this year. We know how much these awards mean to our community and staff. They are an important part of our value and recognition programme now in place at NHS Orkney to ensure there is year-round opportunities to celebrate and thank Team Orkney for all they do for our patients and community. I am also pleased that we are working in partnership once again with The Orcadian, recognising the importance of this relationship, and hope to generate lots of nominations for our People’s Choice Award once again through doing so.”
Sarah Gilmour, Chief Reporter at The Orcadian said: “Last year's award ceremony was an incredible experience, as was helping to select the final winners. I am thrilled to see the newspaper promote this initiative, which highlights just some of the many powerful and life-changing contributions made by staff working within healthcare in Orkney."
Meghan McEwen, Board Chair at NHS Orkney, said: “The Team Orkney Awards were a huge success last year, and it is with enormous pride that we are announcing this year’s categories. The new and expanded awards include awards that recognise those colleagues who have demonstrated and embodied our values, which are so important to delivering outstanding care to our community. These awards represent highlights of our year, and I look forward to the ceremony and an opportunity to celebrate the people that make NHS Orkney the incredible organisation it is - our staff.”
Voting will close on Sunday 16 February, a full list of nominees will be published on 21 February and our 2025 shortlist will be announced on 5 March.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 28 March.
