Ophthalmology Waiting List – Waiting List Validation

Last year NHS Scotland introduced a text message service to ensure our patient waiting lists were up to date and that patients on these lists still required their appointments and operations.

From this week, Thursday 29th August 2024, patients who are currently on a waiting list for an Ophthalmology appointment or procedure will receive a text message from The National Elective Coordination Unit (NECU) from mobile number 07860 039092.

As with the text messages last year, these will include a link to a short survey asking if patients still need their appointment, followed by a few questions to confirm their identity. People who are answering the survey on behalf of someone else must provide the patient’s details at this stage.

While the majority of patients will receive a text message, some patients will receive a telephone call. Again, these should be expected to be received from Thursday 29th August 2024.
